Big question for the USA.

Lets agree that Osama Bin Laden did this and that this deserves quick and brutal revenge. Now what...

Who do we strike back at?

- Osama Bin Laden? OK lets kill him.

- Osama Bin Ladens 500 or so followers? OK lets do them.

Then what? Kabul is already rubble what else is there to destroy? They have no airport, twin-towers or pentagon. Theres minimal infrastructure.

Who do you destroy then?

You end up destroying yourselves.

If today American takes a brave step and tries to forgive those who've done this heinous crime it will survice and eventually prosper again.

If it cant do this and goes for revenge it will plant the seeds for its future self-destruction because that is one lust that will never be asuaged in this instance.

This is the biggest question facing the USA now - not who did this.

Re: Big question for the USA.

So they knobble the Us and more terrorists continue with further acts of terrorism as no repocussions result.

War is not the answer, but neither is a passive response.

I offer no submission on action, but rebuke your assertion.

I'm sorry but you are deluded.

Ignore what happened and have no physical reaction? No punishment of any sort?

So just have terrorists and their finance source in Bin Laden continue living and continue to do this? Do you really think Bin Laden will just stop funding this shyt?

Re: Big question for the USA.

If you were there hearing the women scream when the second plane hit, or when people started jumping, or when the first tower collapsed, you would know there is no forgiveness.

You just don't want to get your hands dirty. Don't worry, eurofag, we'll take care of everything.

What we did to Germany and Japan worked well.

Move in (with the Russians), take over, and rebuild Afghanistan from the ground up. It'll take 20 years.

Re: Big question for the USA.

Theres other ways to stop terror - political and economic.

Blowing up a few rag-heads won't assuage our revenge-lust. That lust will be carried out over many months and years upon our children, brothers and sisters. The impact of the inabillity to strike-out this time will turn the US into a society at war with itself.

Forgiveness is the only route.

Re: Big question for the USA.

What do you mean, forgive him?

You think this is a one-time event?

This is just the last in a never-ending series.

We don't care if Kabul is rubble. Either they pony up the bastard or we disregard collateral damage and start eradicating the Taliban.

Countries, all countries, have to understand, sear it into their souls, that an act of war on Americans is going to seriously disrupt a lot of lives. Theirs.

Have we really come to this? Is it time to apologize for being who we are? Are there nations out there who rise head and shoulders above the United States of America, morally or otherwise?

I thought not.

This is the most fuqed up thing I have seen posted here yet.

It's this European attitude that resulted in the deaths of 6 million Jews. Don't you fuqers ever learn?

Wait, will YOU listen to yourself first.

WHO? WHO? WHO?

...are you going to strike back at. This ain't Pearl Harbour my boy, this time you don't know who did it.

You can kill a few hundered Afghans. You'll be lucky if you hit anyone connected with this.

THEN WHAT?

What next for the USA?

Does killing these people make everything right?

Does it?

Re: Big question for the USA.

Rule 1: Never under-estimate the enemy

You are talking about organisations such as Osama's Al-Qaida that have presence around the world. Yemen, Sudan, Egypt, Middle-East, Pakistan and ofcourse Afghanistan...

The only question facing us is:
how do we minimise the collateral damage when we respond. Clearly bombing out the entire Islamic World is not a solution but unless they co-operate I don't think it will be ever possible for American;s to take peace for granted...

I'm telling you, occupy the country in question (not sure which one it is), start writing tiny dole check with exchange rates making it cheap, and install cable TV.

That will break their spirit! Soon they will be jive-talking, MTV hip, project trash.

Re: Big question for the USA.

This response demonstrates classicaly the level of ignorance in American on this matter. The USSR tried to occupy this shyt-hole once and look what happened to them.

Reality bites. This ain't Pearl Harbour. Revenge gets the aggression out of the American system. This time it wont.

This time the USA will need to find another way to dissapate the aggression.

I tend to agree. This will be Bush adminstration's testing time. Wether to lash out blindly, bomb a 3rd world country and declare that justice has been done. Or start to think about US's role in the world and what can be achieved without military action.
